Fiscal Year 2023 Budget Development
The FY 2023 proposed budget is scheduled to be presented by the City Manager to City Council on February 15, 2022. On November 6, 2021, City Council held its annual retreat to kick-off the budget, and on November 9, 2021 City Council adopted its budget guidance.

Fiscal Year 2022 Approved Budget
On May 5, 2021, the Alexandria City Council unanimously adopted a Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 General Fund Operating Budget of $770.7 million, which represents increase of 2.3% over the current year. The budget approved by City Council includes a two-cent real estate tax rate reduction from $1.13 to $1.11 per $100 of assessed value. The FY 2022 budget funds 100% of the Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) School Board’s approved capital improvement program and operating budget. The adopted budget also includes adjustments to the City Manager’s proposed FY 2022 Capital Improvement Program (CIP), including reallocation of $3.2 million to accelerate the Joseph Hensley Park renovation project and a $1 million one-time increase in affordable housing. The approved budget also provides for a one-time 1.0% base salary bonus for City employees and State employees. FY 2022 begins on July 1, 2021 and ends June 30, 2022. On March 11, President Joseph R. Biden signed the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA), which established the Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund. This fund provides $130.2 billion to local governments nationwide for COVID-19 pandemic recovery assistance. The City is developing a list of potential programs and projects to help guide the use of these funds as part of a future spending plan.

Capital Projects Status Report
The Quarterly Capital Projects Status Report details the City's current Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects. Along with budget and financial data, information is provided on the history and current status of the projects, project highlights from the previous quarter, and anticipated project progress in the forthcoming quarter. This report is presented to City Council by the Office of Management and Budget and made available to the public.

Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR)
Provided by the Finance Department's Accounting Division, the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) represents the City's overall financial position at the end of each fiscal year and reports the City's activities and balances for each fiscal year.
The purpose of this fee compendium is to provide a readily available source of information on the fees and service charges assessed by City departments. Although it is our intent to keep this information updated, there may be a lag between changes and when they are posted in this document. It is therefore possible that discrepancies may arise between the information contained within this compendium and Resolutions/Ordinances passed by City Council or regulations issued by departments. In any case, the Resolutions/Ordinances passed by City Council or regulations issued by departments shall be considered authority.

Budget & Fiscal Affairs Advisory Committee
The Budget and Fiscal Affairs Advisory Committee (BFAAC) advises and supports the City Council by examining the City's budget procedures and processes; and recommends ways of improving that process, including participation by the public.
