Artist Reception Celebrates Traffic Control Box Public Art Project, National Public Works Week
The Office of the Arts held a reception to celebrate the debut of the Traffic Control Box Wrap Public Art Project on Sunday, May 17. Attendees had an opportunity to meet the artists whose work appears in the project, visit the Mobile Art Lab, and enjoy refreshments, including popcorn from Popped Republic. The event also kicked off National Public Works Week (NPWW), May 17-23. NPWW honors the tens of thousands of men and women who provide and maintain the infrastructure and services collectively known as public works, and calls attention to the importance of public works in community life.
The public art project was implemented by the Public Art Program (Office of the Arts & Alexandria Commission for the Arts) in collaboration with Transportation & Environmental Services (T&ES).
