Construction Permits and Inspections
The Construction Permits and Inspections Section, under the Right of Way and Development Division, is located in room 4130 in City Hall. This section manages and inspects capital improvement projects through all phases of construction, permits, temporary reserved parking, and all work within the right of way. Contact us: 703.746.4035
Right of WaY & Development
The Right of Way & Development Division, located in room 3200 in City Hall, designs capital improvement projects to be administered by the department and reviews State projects and privately submitted site plans to ensure construction is in compliance with the City's engineering standards and policies. Environmental Quality
Environmental Quality, located at 2900 Business Center Drive, administers the City's air, water, and noise improvement programs, which help preserve and protect the environment and public health and welfare. Contact us: 703.746.4065
Stormwater Management
The Stormwater Management Program helps protect water quality in the City. The program has three focus areas: 1) Stormwater Quality, 2) Flooding and Drainage Issues, and 3) Public Infrastructure Maintenance & Operations. Residents also partner with the City to protect water quality and decrease the impact of flooding. Sanitary Infrastructure
The Sanitary Infrastructure Division implements the City’s Sanitary Sewer Master Plan and is responsible for planning level engineering related to sanitary sewer capital projects throughout the City.Contact us: 703.746.4065
Public Works Services
The Public Works Services Division, located at 2900 Business Center Drive, provides maintenance and repairs for all City sewers, streets, sidewalks and fire hydrants; maintains stream beds, weirs and stream banks; maintains drainage tunnels, box culverts, storm water pollution removal facilities; maintains bridges; and conducts snow removal and flood control operations. FlEET SERVICES
Fleet Services Division is responsible for maintaining the city's vehicles and major construction equipment. The City has some 800 units in its fleet; not including the school system, public transportation (bus) system vehicles or police motorcycles. Vehicles in the City's Fleet include everything from police patrol cars, pick-up trucks, sedans, hybrid fuel vehicles, dump trucks, tractors, SUVs and more. Contact us: 311 or 703.746.4311
Resource Recovery

MOBILITY Services
Mobility Services and Programs, located at 421 King St., Suite 235, coordinates parking and curbside management programs, DOT paratransit for the mobility impaired and the City’s GO Alex program, which promotes ridesharing through the formation of car and vanpools and other vehicle alternative programs. Traffic Engineering

Transportation Planning
The Transportation Planning Division, located at 301 King St., Suite 3600, develops and implements the City's Comprehensive Transportation Master Plan, manages the Vision Zero, Transit, and Complete Streets Programs and coordinates with regional partners for funding, Metro related services and the Alexandria DASH bus service.
